Jefferson wanted this city from the French so we could easily trade our goods without foreign interference, Napoleon - French Emperor who sold Louisiana Territory and New Orleans to Jefferson for $15 million dollars, 1803 - Year in which Jefferson bought Louisiana from the French and doubled the size of the country, Lewis and Clark - Explorers Jefferson sent out in 1803 to explore the new territory gained from the Louisiana Purchase, Sacagawea - Native American guide who helped navigate Lewis and Clark in the new territory and avoid danger, Pacific Ocean - This is how far Lewis and Clark were trying to get to when exploring the new territory, Embargo - To not allow boats to leave in order to trade, Embargo Act - Britain and France were at war, so to avoid conflict Jefferson issued this law which was unpopular because it did not allow any foreign trade,
