Air resistance increases so their acceleration slows.., Eventually weight and air resistance become equal so their speed stays constant, this is their first terminal velocity., The parachute increases the surface making the air resistance bigger than the weight, they decelerate., As they slow down they hit less particles with less force. Air resistance decreases., The air resistance becomes equal to weight again. The speed becomes constant at a second slower terminal velocity., This second slower terminal velocity means the sky diver can touch down without dying!.
