Amplitude - Measures the voltage of the beat and is determined by how high the wave reaches as measured by each squarem vertically on the chart, Deflection - Determined by which lead on the patient it is coming from, Duration - Is determined by how long it is as measured by squares going horizontal, PR Interval - Indicates atrioventricular conduction time (the time that is needed for the sinus node stimulation, atrial depolarization, and conduction through the AV node before ventricular depolarization). It is measured from where the P wave begins until the beginning of the QRS complex, QRS Complex - Indicates ventricular depolarization. It is measured from the end of the PR interval to the end of the S wave, QT Interval - Indicates ventricular activity, both depolarization and repolarization. It is calculated measuring the QT interval from the beginning of the QRS complex to the end of the T wave, ST Segment - Represents ventricular repolarization. It begins at the end of the QRS complex and continues to the beginning of the T wave. It is usally identified as the thickness or angle of the terminal portion of the QRS complex. , P Wave - Represents the electrical impulse starting in the SA node and spreading through the atria. It represents atrial depolarization. , Q Wave - First negative deflection after the P wave. , R Wave - First negative deflection after the R wave. When the wave is taller than 5 mm, capital letters are used. If the wave is smaller than 5 mm, lower case letters are used. , T Wave - Represents ventricular repolarization. It follows the QRS complex and is usually in the same direction (deflection) as the QRS complex. , U Wave - Thought to represent repolarization of the Purkinje Fibers, although this wave is rare. Sometimes appears in hypokalemia, hypertension, or heart disease. If it is present it follows the T wave, PP Interval - Used to determine the atrial rate and rhythm. It is masured from the beginning of the P wave, to the beginning of the next P wave, RR Interval - Used to determine ventricular rate and rhythm. It is measuref from one QRS complex to the next QRS complex. ,
