Exosphere - The outer layer of the thermosphere, extending outward into space., Ionosphere - the lower part of the thermosphere, where electrically charged particles called ions are found, Thermosphere - The uppermost layer of the atmosphere, in which temperature increases as altitude increases, Mesopause - the transition between the mesosphere and the thermosphere, Mesosphere - The layer of Earth's atmosphere immediately above the stratosphere. Temperatures decrease as altitude increases., Stratopause - The transition between the stratosphere and the mesosphere, Stratosphere - The 2nd layer of atmosphere that contains the ozone layer. Temperature increases as altitude increases., Tropopause - The transition between the troposphere and the stratosphere., Troposphere - The lowest layer of Earth's atmosphere. All life exist in this layer. Weather occurs in this layer. Temperature decrease as altitude increases., Altitude - The distance above sea level, Reflection - The bouncing back of a ray of light, sound, or heat when the ray hits the Earth., Absorption - The process or action by which an object absorbs energy on Earth., Radiation - The transfer of energy by electromagnetic waves, Conduction - The direct transfer of heat from one substance to another substance that it is touching., Convection - The transfer of heat by the movement of a fluid (gas or liquid), Air Mass - A huge body of air that has similar temperature, humidity, and air pressure at any given height, Cold Front - Forms when cold air moves under warm air which is less dense and pushes air up (produces thunderstorms heavy rain or snow, Warm Front - Forms when warm air moves over cold air and brings drizzly rain and then are followed by warm and clear weather, Occluded Front - A front where a warm air mass is caught between two colder air masses and brings cool temperatures and large amounts of rain and snow, Stationary Front - A boundary between air masses that don't move possibly causing rain for several days, Weather - The day-to-day conditions of the atmosphere, including temperature, precipitation, and other factors, Climate - The average weather conditions in an area over a long period of time, High Pressure System - A large body of circulating air with high pressure at its center and lower pressure outside of the system. It typically brings clear weather. Winds move Clockwise and Outward in the Northern Hemisphere., Low Pressure System - A large body of circulating air with low pressure at its center and higher pressure outside of the system. It typically brings stormy weather. Winds move Couterclockwise and Inward in the Northern Hemisphere., Coriolis Effect - The effect of Earth's rotation on the direction of winds and currents.,
