Relation, A set of ordered pairs that shows how two values are connected., Function, A relation where each input has only one output., Domain, All the possible input values (x-values)., Range, All the possible output values (y-values)., Function Notation, A way to write a function using symbols like f(x)., Input, The number put into a function, usually x., Output, The result of a function, usually y., Vertical Line Test, A way to check if a graph is a function. A vertical line can touch the graph only once., Continuous Function, A function with a graph you can draw without lifting your pencil., Discrete Function, A function with separate points that are not connected., Linear Function, A function whose graph is a straight line., Nonlinear Function, A function whose graph is not a straight line., Graph, A picture that shows the relationship between values., x-intercept, The point where a graph crosses or touches the x-axis (y = 0)., y-intercept, The point where a graph crosses the y-axis (x = 0)., Increasing, When the graph goes up as you move from left to right., Decreasing, When the graph goes down as you move from left to right., Constant, When the output stays the same as the input changes., Symmetry, When parts of a graph match across a line or around a point., Line of Symmetry, A line that divides a graph into two matching mirror-image parts., Relative Minimum, A low point on a graph compared to nearby points., Relative Maximum, A high point on a graph compared to nearby points., Key Features of a Graph, Important parts of a graph, such as intercepts, maximums, minimums, and where it increases or decreases.
