From an early childhood teacher :) No, not at all. Children have different temperaments- or come in all shapes and sizes of learners, if you will - and they learn differently., Just based off their needs, we should address students as individuals and cater to their learning styles as best as possible., Yes, I do think they are myths. To my knowledge, research has failed to support the idea that some people have better learning outcomes when receiving information in one modality than in others., Learning styles are important. It focuses more on interaction and attainment, which helps students learn in an easier and more comfortable way than test-centered styles., Learning styles may fail to build a solid foundation for basic subjects like math which need tons of practice., No - students learn best with visuals, physical manipulations, etc to best support their learning. Some students might have difficulty processing certain things, so having a variety is helpful and certainty not a myth., No, I don’t think they are myths. Students have different personalities and may be raised by parents/families in different ways so they will have preferences on how they will be taught., For me personally, I am vision learner and seeing things makes me concentrate better so when teachers only teach with speaking, I can’t learn well. Therefore, as today’s world getting more and more diverse; and technology brings many new things that affect students view the world and learn stuff- teachers should be flexible on how they gonna teach., Test-centered styles can help students build a solid foundation while learning styles focus on the students creative ability., I do not think they are a myth. I have seen certain students excel in environments that stick to certain learning styles and other students that excel in different learning styles. This may not even depend on subject or environment., No, not a myth! Learning styles and differences do exist and finding the right way to teach that fits student’s learning style would help greatly in improving our teaching. This is why we need differentiation.,
