mouth - where mechanical digestion takes place, salivary glands - release saliva which contain the enzyme amylase., oesophagus - the tube than connects the mouth to the stomach, stomach - food is mechanically digested using churning and chemically digested using acid and enzymes, small intestine - made up of the duodenum and ileum and is where most absorption of food molecules takes place., large intestine - water is absorbed here, rectum - faeces is stored here, pancreas - produces digestive enzymes , liver - produces bile which emulsifies fats, gall bladder - stores bile and releases it into the duodenum when needed, duodenum - where enzymes and bile meet partially digested food. Food digestion finishes here., ileum - absorption of food happens here. This structure contains lots of villi to increase surface area.,
