1) Artists felt more freedom in this era.  2) Fauvism came from a French word for wild beasts. It was when artists made recognizable shapes but with bright, unnatural colors that jumped off the canvas.  3) Mountains at Collioure is a Fauvist painting. 4) Cubism was developed, and it was an art form that threw out all the rules of perspective. This was where artists used geometric figures to portray familiar objects.  5) New York at Night by Weber is a Cubist work.  6) Abstract art came from this era. It uses the elements of painting like color, line, form, and texture, but not to recreate or represent scenes in real life.  7) Takayama's Expectation is abstract art. 8) Cezanne, Derain, Weber, Couse, Louis, and Takayama are the Contemporary artists to know. There are six (6) of them.
