The bachelor’s thesis “Designing Modular Furniture Systems for Waste Reduction in Small Urban Apartments” is a practice-based design research project, that explores how modular product design can respond to the challenges of limited living space and material waste in contemporary urban environments., The purpose of this study is to investigate, how modular furniture design can contribute to reducing waste and extending product lifespan in small apartments, To achieve this goal, the following objectives were set:, to analyse spatial constraints in compact residential spaces, to examine principles of sustainable and modular product design, and to develop a furniture system that allows for reconfiguration, adaptation, and partial replacement of components., The methods used in this project include, theoretical analysis of sustainability-oriented design approaches, case study research of existing modular furniture systems, and practical design experimentation through sketching, modelling, and prototyping, The key result of the study is the development of, a modular furniture system designed for small urban interiors, which demonstrates the potential of modularity to reduce material waste and support more sustainable patterns of product use
