It's set in Central Asia during the 19th century. The most memorable scenes are the vivid descriptions of life in the steppe., The book will appeal to people who like history, drama and realism., I particularly enjoyed the characters and the theme of the role of women in society. The main character in the novel is a woman called Ulpan. She is clever, generous, courageous and fair., The things I liked most about the book were the characters and the theme., All in all, I really enjoyed the novel and I wouldn't change the plot or characters.This is a great book to read, with a strong ending and a clear message., In conclusion, I really liked the novel..
