Temperate Forest is dry, trees shed their leaves so they need less water , Plants on the ground have large leaves , to capture as much sunlight as possible, Tropical Forest is very wet so plants leaves have grooves , to lose extra water , Some Kelps in shallow water, have roots to attach themselves to the ocean floor, Some Kelps drift near the ocean’s surface, as they don’t have roots, Small leaves, don’t lose much water, Long roots grow deep, To find underground water, Thick stem, To store water, spiky edges of berry bushes , protect them from being eaten, Wide shallow roots, to soak up water when the rain falls, Waxy coating, to keep in the water, Desert plants have thorns , To protect them from being eaten .
