Recorded observations, The teacher chooses an obs focus. Their peer records all or part of their lesson on their laptop. Then, a) their peer shares the video with them to observe when they’re available, or b) they watch the video together and discuss it., Remote observations, The teacher observes the lesson from home/another location via a live Teams meeting on their peer’s laptop., Reverse observations, Rather than observing a colleague, the teacher invites a peer to observe them, with a particular focus in mind for their peer to give feedback on., Unseen observations, The teacher meets their peer before the class to discuss aims, questions, obs focus etc. The teacher does not observe the class. Afterwards, the teacher and their peer meet again to discuss what happened, any significant moments etc., ‘Pop-in’ / ‘Drop-in’ observations, Rather than observe for all/most of the lesson, the teacher picks a specific obs focus (e.g. giving feedback) and watches for just 5-10 minutes of the lesson, targeting this area., Team teaching, The teacher invites a peer to co-plan and/or teach part of their own class, while they observe (typically the teacher would then reciprocate by teaching part of their peer’s class).
