Mumble Drill, Teacher says the word aloud and students repeat it quietly to themselves before repeating chorally. Then followed by individual drilling., Paired Drill, Students sit opposite one another taking it in turns to say words., Choral and Individual Drill, T says the word and the class repeats. T then nominates students to repeat., Grouped Drilling, Group A on one side of the room and Group B on the other., Whisper/Volume Control, T changes the sound of their voice and Ss copy., Backchaining., T breaks a longer sentence into manageable chunks from the last step and Ss repeat. E.g. "cinema" "to the cinema " "been to the cinema" "I've been to the cinema." , TPR, Students clap, stomp, mime etc, Substitution Drill, T says a sentence and students repeat. T then says a word and Ss repeat the whole sentence again but using the new word. , Transformation Drill, T says a structure and Ss repeat. T then says a cue word (e.g. he/she/it) and students change the form., Disappearing Text, T writes text on the board and Ss repeat. T then rubs out a small part and Ss must repeat the whole text. Continue erasing more of the text with students saying the original text as you remove parts. Can also be gamified. A good memory drill but not the best option for pronunciation..
