Pros, Don't need any plans, or can change plans on a whim., It gives you headspace to think and reflect., It motivates you to put yourself out there and strike up conversations with strangers or dive into activities you might skip in a group., You can linger as long as you like in places that catch your interest., You don’t have to compromise., I don’t have to wait around for someone else to get ready in the morning or to get dragged around museums I have no interest in., Travelling alone gave me more opportunities to mingle with locals instead of staying within a tourist group., Cons, You have to stay alert 24/7, which is exhausting., Homesickness can hit harder., No one to watch your back or your stuff., There’s no one to laugh about mishaps with in the moment., Some experiences, like concerts, safaris, and nightlife, just hit differently in company., There’s no one to split the costs with., I enjoy having good candid photos taken of myself in a cool place or doing something neat. While solo, I don't have as many of those., For introverted people embarking on a solo travel is a real challenge - they aren`t good at forging friendships with new people., Both, You’re calling all the shots yourself.
