Nowadays information communication is an important part of our life., It goes without saying that mass media has become an integral part of modern people's lives., People live with a constant necessity of getting new information., People need information in order to keep in touch with the whole world around them — with new trends of life, discoveries and inventions., Let's concentrate on different mass media branches — television and the Internet., Nowadays almost everybody has got at least one TV set at home., Nowadays almost everybody has got at least one TV set at home., Television takes a steady place in our daily timetable., However, watching television has two sides: not only advantages but also disadvantages., There is no doubt that TV keeps people informed of current events and gives us wonderful opportunities for education., We can choose any programme according to our interests, mood and needs., It can be the field of politics, news, sports, animals, feature films, soap operas, art, talk shows, cartoons, educational programmes, music, fashion and many others., Some channels enrich our knowledge in different fields., One more advantage of watching television is that it gives families an opportunity to spend some time together and helps us to relax and forget about it all, Moreover, television is a great source of entertainment., Every day there is a wide choice of films and serials on TV — detectives, dramas, comedies, action films, thrillers, horrors, cartoons and others., However, watching television has its negative side. It is well known that television may be harmful to our health. Spending too much time in front of a TV screen may affect our eyesight badly., There are many cases in which children become TV-addicted., Their progress in studies suffers due to the fact that children try to do their homework as fast as they can in order to have more time for watching TV., Another disadvantage of television is a great amount of advertising., As for the Internet, it has already entered our ordinary life., The most popular Internet services are e-mail and social web sites., Besides, the Internet is very helpful, because it's a huge database of knowledge., Also, there are a lot of search programs and sites, where you can just type the word or name of the thing you would like to find and then press enter., In several seconds your problem will be solved., Despite the great advantages of the Internet, it has some drawbacks., There are a lot of Internet addicts all over the world whose food is left uneaten, homework undone and sleep is lost., Little by little, it cuts us off from the real world. We get so lazy that we choose to spend a fine day in semi-darkness, glued to our computers, rather than go out into the world itself., Undoubtedly, we need TV and Internet, as they are one of the main and most convenient means of mass media., However, taking into account all their merits and drawbacks, we must try to organize our time in the right way so as not to become TV and Internet slaves.
