Plants and trees initially grow by absorbing carbon dioxide and using sunlight as an energy source., Once fully grown, the plants are harvested and transported for pre-processing., The harvested biomass is subsequently converted into cellulose for further treatment., At the processing plant, cellulose is broken down into sugars through a series of chemical processes., Microbes are then introduced to the sugars to facilitate the fermentation process., As a result of fermentation, ethanol is successfully produced., The finished biofuel is subsequently used to power various forms of transportation., During combustion, carbon dioxide is released back into the atmosphere., The released carbon dioxide is gradually reabsorbed by growing plants., This continuous process ultimately completes the ethanol biofuel production cycle.
