Magnetic Compass, A compass contains a small magnetic needle that can rotate freely. It helps us identify directions. A freely suspended magnet generally settles along the North–South direction., 6. Magnetic Field, The space around a magnet where its magnetic force can act is called its magnetic field. A magnet can attract a magnetic object even when it is not touching it., 7. Magnets Have Two Poles, If a magnet is broken into smaller pieces, each piece will still have both a North and a South pole. We cannot obtain a magnet with only one pole.
