Anagen (Growth Phase), The active growing stage lasting 2-7 years. Hair cells divide rapidly in the follicle. Hair grows approximately 1cm per month. About 85-90% of scalp hair is in anagen at any time, Catagen (Dying Phase), A short transitional phase lasting 2-3 weeks. Hair stops growing, detaches from blood supply, and the follicle shrinks. Only 1-2% of hair is in catagen phase., Telogen (Resting Phase), The resting stage: Hair remains in the follicle but doesn't grow. Lasts approximately 3-4 months. New hair begins forming beneath the old hair, which will eventually shed naturally. About 10-15% of hair is in telogen, which is why we naturally lose 50-100 hairs daily.
