Cloze test, A task-type in which learners read a text with missing words and try to work out what the missing words are. The missing words are moved regularly from the text, e.g. every seventh word., Gap-fill activities are used for, Restricted practice or for focusing on a specific language point., Sequencing, An activity in which learners follow a logical order to organise a text or pictures., Error, A mistake that a learner makes when trying to say or write something above their level of language., Timing, The likely time different activities or stages in a lesson plan should take., Assumptions, When teachers think about what they believe their learners will or will not know or how they will behave in a particular lesson., Fossilisation, The process in which incorrect language becomes a habit and cannot easily be corrected., Grammar Translation Method, A way of teaching in which learners study grammar and translate words and texts into their own language or the target language., Learning Style, The way in which an individual learner naturally prefers to learn something., Homograph, A word which is spelled the same as another word but has a different meaning.
