It added strength to the gatehouse., PORTCULLIS - A very strong vertical gate made of metal and wood, that could be dropped very quickly to stop invaders to get in., TOWER - A circular or square building used for a lookout and for defence., TURRETS - They were used to see far across the land to warn when enemies were coming, KEEP - Usually found at the heart of the castle. It was a tower built to be used as last resort during a battle.,
