Eyepiece, known as the ocular; lens at the top of the microscope that you look through; usually a magnification of 10x, Nosepiece, holds the objective lenses and rotates to change magnification, Arm, supports the upper parts of the microscope; used to help carry the microscope, Low power lens, gives a close view of the slide without getting too close; labeled with a 10x, High power lens, for fine, close, detailed viewing; labeled with 40x, Stage, where you put the slide; helps to view an object or specimen on a stable surface, Stage clips, helps to the hold the slide in place, diaphragm, wheel or lever located below the stage opening; regulates the amount of light that can enter the lenses, light source, provides light necessary for viewing the specimen on the slide, coarse adjustment knob, raises or lowers stage or objective lenses; used only when focusing scanning power, 4x, lens, fine adjustment knob, raises and lowers stage or objective lenses a small distance for exact focusing; used with 10x or 40x power lenses, base, supports the whole/entire microscope; used the carry the microscope.
