Endocrine gland- they make up the endocrine system, Exocrine gland- secretes substances, Hormone- they are in the blood and carries them to organs and tissues, to carry out their function, Mineralocorticoid- steroid hormones, Glucocorticoid- corticosteroid hormone, Catecholamine- hormones made by the adrenal glands, Protein hormone- produced by the pituitary gland, Steroid hormone- acts like a “hormone”, Pineal gland- regulates melatonin, Pituitary gland- controls the growth of endocrine glands, Hypothalamus- connects the nervous system to endocrine system, Thyroid gland- butterfly shape at the base of your neck, Parathyroid gland(s)- lies behind the thyroid and helps to maintain the body’s level of calcium and phosphorus, Thymus gland- functions in the immune system and endocrine system, Adrenal gland(s)- it sits on top of your kidneys and they produce hormones you cannot live without, Pancreas- helps aids in digestion and hormones that regulate blood pressure, Islets of Langerhans- makes insulin and glucagon, Gonads- male and female reproductive organs, ADH- controls blood pressure, Oxytocin- love hormone, TSH- regulates the energy in the body, FSH- regulates growth in the body, ACTH- regulates steroid hormone, LH- sexual development, GH- a protein hormone, PRL- production of milk, Thyroxin- regulates growth and increases metabolic rate, Calcitonin- regulates calcium and phosphate levels, PTH- raises calcium levels, Aldosterone- regulates water and electrolytes in the body, Cortisol- stress hormone and increases sugar levels in the blood, Epinephrine- raises glucose levels and increases cardiac output, Insulin- regulates blood sugar levels, Glucagon- acts against insulin and increases blood glucose levels, Glycogen- fills our muscles with energy, Estrogen- the hormones of the female reproductive system, Progesterone- prepares a woman for a potential pregnancy after ovulation, Testosterone- affects the male reproductive system.
