So, you know how every year we have that ____ talent show at the community center? Yeah, it's usually a ____ experience for everyone involved. I mean, who wouldn’t get a little jittery about performing in front of a crowd? Last year, my buddy Marco decided he was going to do his best stand-up routine because, well, he thinks he’s a comedian. He’s got this ____ side, always ____, but let's be real—some of them land better than others. He thought it would be hilarious to pull out some classic Mexican humor mixed with a few local references. It made everyone laugh, or maybe they were just trying to be nice. Either way, by the end, people were ____ more than I’d expected. Of course, there were those who couldn’t help but ____... and some who rolled their eyes like they had already ____ every bad joke he told from past years. It’s hard to ____ when your timing is off, but he’d just laugh it off. “Hey, comedy’s an art!” he said, while other acts were basically like watching paint dry. But nonetheless, Marco never let a bad reaction laugh in the face of his efforts; he just kept coming back for more. At one point, he even joked, “This isn't no laughing matter, folks! We need to bring the heat!” You could tell he was trying to channel some confidence. Everyone clapped like crazy—whether out of sympathy or ____, who knows? Honestly, when you see someone put themselves out there ____ for a laugh, it’s hard not to cheer them on, even if it’s just to see where he goes next!
