1) t’s Emma’s first day of middle school. She loves her new outfit and her shoes. She feels comfortable and stylish. She goes to her first class when she sees Mia, a student she knew last year. Why might Noah take it personally? 7) Sofia rushes to hand out birthday invitations before class starts. She accidentally skips Maya without realizing it. Maya sees everyone else getting an invitation and feels left out.Question: What could be another explanation for why Maya didn’t get an invitation right away? Why might Maya feel hurt? 8)  During a group project, Tyler is staring at the wall and not saying anything. Anna looks over and assumes Tyler isn’t helping on purpose.Question: What might Tyler be doing silently? Why might Anna think he doesn’t want to help? 9) Eva and Daniel are walking on the track during P.E. A group of kids stare at them and laugh as they walk by. One of the student’s says, “You two make such a cute couple!” Their entire group roars with laughter. Eva is embarrassed, because her and Daniel are just friends. What would you say/do if you were part of the group that laughed? How would you react if you were Eva or Daniel? 10) Sarah and Kristen are at school when they notice their friend Kelly crying. Kristen leans over to ask Kelly what is wrong. Kelly then says that her parents are fighting a lot and she is worried they might get a divorce. If you were Sarah, what would you say? How do you think Kelly is feeling? 11) Before class starts, Ben sits in a different seat than he usually does. His friend Lily sees this and thinks Ben doesn’t want to sit next to her anymore. Question: What could be another reason Ben sat somewhere new? Why might Lily think he’s avoiding her? 12) The teacher asks a question, and Zoe doesn’t raise her hand even though she usually participates. Caleb looks at her and assumes she didn’t study.Question: Why might Zoe choose not to raise her hand today? Why might Caleb assume she didn’t do the homework?
