1st conditional: If it doesn't rain tomorrow, we'll go to the beach., When I finish work, I'll call you., Usage: are used to express situations in which the outcome is likely (but not guaranteed) to happen in the future., Zero conditional: If I drink too much coffee, I can't sleep at night., When the sun goes down, it gets dark., Usage: express general truths—situations in which one thing always causes another., 2nd conditional: If I had a lot of money, I would travel anywhere I want., They would be very sad if they heard that from you., Usage: are useful for expressing outcomes that are completely unrealistic or will not likely happen in the future., 3rd conditional: She would have been there on time if her car hadn't broken down., If I had accepted that promotion, I would have been working in Milan., Usage: are used to explain that present circumstances would be different if something different had happened in the past., Mixed conditional: If I had worked harder at school, I would have a better job now., If we had looked at the map, we wouldn't be lost., Usage: It is possible for the two parts of a conditional sentence to refer to different times, and the resulting sentence is a "mixed conditional" sentence.
