virtual memory - an area of HDD that stores temporary memory when RAM is full, RAM - volatile memory  that is lost when the device is turned off , ROM - non-volatile memory that stores the BIOS of a device , cache memory - memory used to store frequently visited pages or files , solid state drive - uses flash memory to read and write data on to the storage device. Example  USB Stick, optical drive - Read and write data on optical discs such as CDs & DVDs, magnetic drive  - Reads and writes data on a magnetic disk such as a HDD, CPU - processes data and instructions in a computer , clock speed - Measures the number of instructions a CPU executes per second, NIC - network interface card/controller , topology - The different methods of connecting computers , peer to peer - all nodes on the network are equal , client to server - The server provides services for client workstations, router  - connects all networks and routers data packets to their intended recipient , domain name server  - A computer server that contains a database of many IP addresses and their associated domain names, protocol  - Rules or standards for a device to communicate,
