Mesopotamia - In ancient times, the land/area located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, irrigation - a man-made system to SUPPLY land with water, levee - a wall of earth built to PREVENT a river from flooding its banks and causing unwanted destruction, sustainability - the ability to be maintained at a certain level; avoidance of  the overuse or devastation of resources, silt - fine particles of rock often carried by rivers/streams and deposited on the banks when they flood (makes the land fertile), city-state - an early city that was like a small, independent state or country with its OWN laws and government, Neolithic Age - the period in human history where humans began to farm and settle in permanent communities, BCE/CE - abbreviations that identify a particular time period (preceding our current time period ), innovation - a new idea, product or method, time, space & place - a measurement of YEARS, and PERIODS as well as the absolute or relative POSITION of something or someone.,
