alliteration, words beginning with the same sound or letter, visual image, a phrase which gives the reader something they can picture, punctuation, commas, colons, dashes etc used to create an effect for the reader, emotive word, a word which shows to the reader an emotion, proper noun, the name of someone or something in capital letters, numbers, use of numbers, dates, times, statistics for effect, metaphor, a phrase where one thing is said to be another for imaginative effect, first person pronoun, words like 'I', 'my', 'we' 'our' which create a personal or involved feeling, contrast, setting two different things alongside each other to show how different they are, abstract nouns, names of things which are feelings or ideas eg 'truth', adjective, a word which describes a noun, used to create a mood, tone, feeling or attitude.
