contour index is usually every 5th line with assigned values of elevation, contour line represents points of equal elevation on a map, contour interval equals 10 which is the difference in elevation between each contour line, contour lines close together indicate a steep slope, V-shape contour lines point upstream and indicate that Maple Stream starts in the north east, Colden Creek is flowing south to the lake, highest hill, lowest hill, elevation 460m, contour lines farther apart indicate a shallow/gentle slope.
