ADHD - This condition affects people’s behaviour. People with this condition can seem restless, may have trouble concentrating and may act on impulse., SEMH - This term came into use in 2014 and replaced emotional behavioural disorder (EBD) and behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD), OCD - A mental health condition that causes people to do certain actions (rituals) in order to stop upsetting and frightening thoughts or bad things from happening. It is not necessarily a SEND but severe symptoms can interfere with the ability to learn, and it can be associated with ASC or ADHD., ODD - A condition characterised by long-term anger, irritability, argumentativeness, defiance and vindictiveness., TS - It is a condition that causes someone to make involuntary sounds and physical movements called tics. It is not a learning disability but it can affect some children’s ability to learn. Someone with ASC or ADHD may also experience traits of this syndrome. , BOSS - This is an example of partnership or multi-agency working, where practitioners support children, young people and schools to reduce the risk of exclusion and develop the ability of schools to support children experiencing behaviour that challenges., PMLD - This is when a person has a severe learning disability and other disabilities that significantly affect their ability to communicate and be independent., EHCP - These are intended to support children and young people with complex needs that fall outside of SEND provision provided by childcare, schools or colleges - a parent/carer can request an EHC plan if they think it’s appropriate for their child - a young person can request an assessment themselves if they are aged 16-25.,
