To begin with, exhausted children need a break from school in the afternoon. Why do teachers feel the need to add to children’s fatigue and stress by assigning homework? Burned-out students deserve the opportunity to unwind and relax after school, spending quality time with friends and family. Making students do schoolwork at home is simply cruel. The home should be a sanctuary from schoolwork!, Homework makes students tired and stressed. It may impede them from participating in extracurricular activities after school. There is also no proof that homework benefits students’ academic results. For these reasons, and countless more, good teachers never assign homework, and sensible schools should immediately insist that teachers stop assigning homework!, Do you think it is fair for teachers to ask students to complete a stressful and pointless activity every single day? Of course not! I strongly believe that good teachers never assign homework to students. Children need time to rest after a long day at school. They should be able to pursue other interests, such as sport and music. Also, there is no convincing proof that homework even helps students do better academically!, In addition, children need time after school to participate in important educational activities, such as playing sport, learning a musical instrument or joining a community organisation. These extracurricular pursuits teach children vital skills that can be used throughout their lives. When homework is added to a child’s busy schedule, they may be forced to stop participating in the engaging activities they love and are passionate about. This is completely unfair and must never be allowed to happen!, Finally, there is no conclusive evidence that homework increases student achievement. In fact, some research has indicated that homework actually has negative effects on students. How ridiculous it is to be enforcing homework on children when little evidence exists to support its value! Knowing this information, why do some teachers persist in assigning homework?
