Iago advises Cassio to seek Desdemona’s help to regain his position, furthering his plan to make Othello suspicious., Act III, Scene I - Cassio asks Desdemona to intercede on his behalf with Othello. Iago continues to manipulate the situation., Act III, Scene II - Othello gives Iago letters to deliver and surveys the fortifications., Act III, Scene III - Desdemona pleads with Othello to reinstate Cassio. Iago begins to plant seeds of doubt in Othello’s mind about Desdemona’s fidelity. Othello becomes consumed by jealousy. Desdemona drops a handkerchief, which Emilia, Iago’s wife, picks up and gives to Iago. Iago plans to use it as evidence of Desdemona’s infidelity., Act III, Scene IV - Desdemona worries about losing the handkerchief, which Othello demands to see. Othello becomes increasingly agitated, while Iago continues to fuel his jealousy. Cassio gives the handkerchief to his lover, Bianca, asking her to copy the embroidery., Act IV, Scene I - Iago torments Othello with vivid images of Desdemona’s infidelity. Othello, overwhelmed, collapses in a fit. Iago arranges for Othello to overhear a conversation between himself and Cassio about Bianca, but Othello believes they are discussing Desdemona. Enraged, Othello decides to kill Desdemona. He strikes her in public, shocking everyone., Act IV, Scene II - Othello interrogates Emilia about Desdemona’s behavior, but she insists on Desdemona’s innocence. Desdemona, confused and hurt, cannot understand Othello’s anger. Iago convinces Roderigo to kill Cassio., Act IV, Scene III - Desdemona prepares for bed, singing a mournful song about lost love. She speaks with Emilia about the nature of infidelity, unaware of the tragedy about to unfold., Act V, Scene I - Roderigo attacks Cassio, but Cassio wounds him. Iago injures Cassio from behind and kills Roderigo to prevent his exposure. Iago blames Bianca for the attack, further covering his tracks., Act V, Scene II - Othello confronts Desdemona in their bedchamber, accusing her of adultery. Despite her pleas of innocence, he smothers her. Emilia arrives, discovers the murder, and reveals Iago’s treachery. Iago kills Emilia and flees but is captured. Othello, devastated by his actions, takes his own life. Cassio is appointed governor of Cyprus, and Iago is taken away to be punished.,
