A story written about someone but written by someone else. - BIOGRAPHY, A story where the author is the person writing the story about themself. - AUTOBIOGRAPHY, A very short story usually with only 2-3 talking characters that can be animals. There is an element of tricker and a lesson or moral at the end of the story. - FABLES, A story that begins with "Once Upon A Time". Usually takes place in faraway places, with kings and queens, and good versus evil. - FAIRY TALES, A story with unrealistic characters (they possess magical powers, magic carpets, traveling through time, etc.). - FANTASY, Made up stories written to entertain the reader. It has a plot with a beginning, middle and end. - FICTION, Stories passed down through generations that are usually about common or ordinary people. May contain supernatural events with good versus evil. Can teach a lesson between right and wrong. - FOLK TALES, A story that is et in a historical time period. May contain both real and made-up characters. The plot is a mixture of REAL and MADE-UP events. - HISTORICAL FICTION, Texts that provide facts and details about a topic. may include several nonfiction text features such as titles, table of contents, index, glossary, pictures, captions, and maps. - INFORMATIONAL, A story that contains detectives, sleuths, victims, suspects, or witnesses. There will be clues that also helps the mystery get solved. - MYSTERY, A story that contains Greek Gods and Goddesses and can have supernatural beings or events. - MYTHS, A story that contains real facts and details about a topic, place or person. Written to teach or inform the reader about something and contains nonfiction text features. - NON-FICTION, This genre is written in lines or stanzas. Can use rhyme. Includes figurative language - POETRY-, A story where the setting is real, the characters are people, and the events could happen in real life. - REALISTIC FICTION, A story that incorporates elements of technology or science. Tells about supernatural events. - SCIENCE FICTION, The main character is described as extraordinary. Includes a lot of hyperbole (exaggeration). - TALL TALES,
