The clock in the parlour chimes unevenly, as though something inside it has slipped out of place. A key for winding it rests on the mantelpiece. I imagine it would run much smoother if tended to soon. - Fix the clock , The fire in the study has burned low, and the room has grown dreadfully cold. I have left the poker by the hearth and the coal bucket close at hand. I would hate for the room to remain in such a state while I step out for the evening. - Re-start the fire , The candle beside my bed flickers weakly, and I find myself squinting at the letter I am trying to finish. I recall that there are fresh candles stored in the cabinet near the door. The hour grows late, and I can scarcely see. - Fetch a new candle , The garden gate has been left open once again, and I fear the neighbour’s dog will wander in and disturb the rose bushes. The latch is stiff, but with a little effort, I am sure it will fasten properly this time. - Close the gate , The silverware on the dining table still carries smudges from dinner, and I know the butler will be displeased when he returns. The polishing cloth and solution sit untouched near the cupboard. The table cannot be left in this state. - Clean the cutlery , The library shelves are coated in dust, and I found myself coughing terribly while searching for a book this morning. A duster is tucked into the drawer beside the desk. The library hasn’t been cleaned in far too long. - Dust the library , The horses in the stable have grown restless, and their water trough is nearly empty. I recall seeing the stablehand's bucket left by the well earlier today. The horses will not settle without attention. - See to the horses , The pantry shelves are looking rather empty, and I saw the baker’s cart rolling down the street this morning. I believe the breadbasket is by the door, ready to go. - Go food shopping ,
