BP, LOC, hold if RR <12, assess pain regularly, implement bowel regimen, Ibuprofen: good for pain, inflammation and fever, nonselective COX 1 & 2 inhibitor, decreases the prostaglandin synthesis, side effects, GI irritation/bleeding, renal impairment, increases cardiovascular risks, take it with milk and food, monitor for GI bleeding, renal function, caution with anticoagulants , Celecoxib: god for arthritis, acute pain, dysmenorrhea, it is a selective COX 2 inhibitor, side effect - cardiovasclar risk MI and Stroke, less GI bleed, renal impairment , avoid in patients with CV disease, monitor renal & GI , Prednisone : indications - inflammatory and autoimmune illnesses, asthma, allergies, corticosteroid - suppresses inflammation and the immune response , side effect - immunosuppression, hyperglycemia, osteoporosis, mood changes, weight gain , taper gradually, monitor glucose, for infections, bone health, avoid live vaccines , Dexamethasone: indication - cerebral edema, severe inflammation, chemo-induced nausea, potenet corticosteroid, decreases inflammation and immune activity , immunosuppression, hyperglycemia, mood swings, GI irritation , taper after long-term use, monitor glucose, infection, mental status, Amitriptyline: indication - depression, neuropathic pain, insomnia, tricyclic antidepressant, blocks the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine , side effect - sedation, anticholinergic effects (dry mouth, constipation. urinary retention), orthostatic hypotension, arrhythmias , , monitor moods, suicide ideations, fall risk, avoid in cardiac diseases, Gabapentin: for neuropathic pain, seizures. restless leg syndrome , modulates Ca channels in the CNS - decreases the excitatory neurotransmitter release , side effects - sedation, dizziness, ataxia, weight gain, taper slowly to prevent withdrawal, falls precautions, monitor sedation,
